Top 5 Scenic Golf courses in Colorado

Whether you are vacationing in Colorado or a local looking to play some memorable rounds this summer, this blog will highlight 5 of the prettiest public golf courses in the state. Along with an overview of each course I will also include where you can book a tee time and the typical rate.

5. Mariana Butte Golf course

Mariana Butte golf course located in loveland Colorado is a beautiful public course that offers elevated tee boxes over 100 ft above the greens, borders the Big Thompson River, and offers spectacular views of the Rocky Mountains. The typical rates for a round at Mariana Butte is $49.00 for 18 holes with a cart fee of $16.00. From personal experience this course is well worth the prices and should be on your list of courses to play in Colorado.

4. Fossil Trace Golf Club

Fossil Trace is another one of Colorados must play public courses. It is located in Golden just 20 minutes away from Denver. Hugged up against the foothills of the rockies it offers great views of the mountains and elevation changed that challenges the players. The name matches the features of the course from the amount of rocks and cliffs in the fairways to actual Triceratops fossil footprints located at the 12th green. The typical rates for a round or 18 at Fossil Trace are $90 on the weekdays and $100 on the weekends.

3. TPC Colorado

TPC Colorado is for the golfers that truly want a test. The course can be marked out to play almost 8,000 yards which includes a 773 yard par 5! This course is designed for the pros as each year it holds the TPC Colorado championship for the Korn Ferry Tour. Located right off of I25 the course is located in Berthoud Colorado which is approximately halfway between Fort Collins and Denver. This course is different than the others as it plays much flatter with less elevation changes, but don’t let that fool you it is truly a tough task of golf. A typical rate at TPC Colorado is $175 dollars and even offers a membership with a $25,000 initiation fee and monthly dues that range from $350-$500. My advice is to bring your wallet out and put your scorecards away because both numbers will unfortunately be very high.

2. Lakota Canyon

Located in New Castle Colorado or about 2 hours and 50 minutes from downtown Denver Lakota Canyon is one of the best courses to experience real mountain golf. With unforgettable views of western Colorado canyons and Rocky Mountains this Is a course you will want to bring your camera too. The typical rates for Lakota Canyon is about $90 which is well worth it if you and your buddies are up for a 3 hour drive from downtown Denver!

1. Arrowhead

Last but certainly not least Arrowhead golf club located in Littleton Colorado offers some of the most unique views in golf. It gets its name for the giant red rocks seen all over the course that spear out of the ground similar to an arrowhead. The combination of red sandstone rock, rolling hills, elevated greens, and unique bunker and water feature placements the course is certainly a challenge but playing at only 6,636 yards it is very score-able. Rates to play range from $80-$160 so hopefully you can find a good price and make the 45 minute drive from Denver up to Littleton.
